NavNight 24/11/11
Down a few this week, but I have emailed them to remind them about the sessions and to get some feedback.
We started by revisiting the cross/line exercise and the symbol matching. Some revision was needed for one or two of the kids on orientating the map. Read more

NavNight 16/11/11
I was interviewed on Radio Cumbria on the Thursday after the previous session. I hoped that this would bring a few more people, despite the fact that Radio Cumbria didn’t post any information on their website about the session. (Something I remedied a couple of days later when I realised how to do this.) Read more

In the weeks leading up to the first night I distributed over 1300 flyers to all the junior and primary schools in the area. Read more

British School Training 19/11/2011
This was the day before British Schools. Something like 50 kids turned up to train in the woods and fields at Cartmel. With 8 or so coaches and a couple of helpers, we were well staffed. The weather was also great. Read more

UVHS Training 2,9, and 16/11/2011
This was all planned by Richard Tiley. I helped out where possible. The sessions were planned around giving the kids some fitness work, followed by, or including, familiarisation with the British Schools map.
They were fun and pretty effective, and I didn’t have to plan much, just print out some maps. Read more

UVHS Training 19/10/2011
This week we were again at Dockney Parrock, Bouth. This time on the North side of the track. Richard Tiley had put out a number of controls and I had made up 3 short Planning ahead loops using his controls. Courses were mainly figure of eights, so we could see the runners in the middle of the exercises. Read more

UVHS Training 12/10/2011
This week we were in the South end of the Dockney Parrock area (Old Hall Farm). The plan was to do some more race style training. After the previous loop session in the Big Field I decided to use courses with some Phi loops. Read more
