NavNight 30/11/11

Revisited the line features exercises, with the more complex cones/lines maps.

Then we introduced Grid References by using a simple grid of cones in a large square.  Each person was given a coordinate to stand at, then they were checked when everyone was in the right place.  Adults got this quickly, kids took a little longer.  This was repeated.

Adults then spent some time finding places on an OS map using Grid References, while the kids did a memory game with O symbols and photos of the features.

Finished with a cones/line feature exercise using this map.  This was very simple to set up and allowed for 8 courses from 2 separate starts.  It uses very simple lines to allow for some basic navigation.

The full OCAD for this exercise is here.

A good session, with lots of variety.
